BROMSGROVE cyclist Richard Deeley proved he is going from strength to strength when he scooped fifth place out of a 120-rider time trial.
The 25-mile time trial at Long Bennington, in Nottinghamshire, also saw the 23-year-old ride a personal best with a time of 57 minutes and 36 seconds.
Now Richard, who rides for Stourbridge CC is training harder than ever to get his speed up for a race on a renown fast course in Oxford on August 25.
Richard said: "Saturday's time trial was nerve-racking because until about 15 minutes before the end I was in the lead only to have my time beaten in the final stages.
"But I am really pleas-ed with coming fifth and gaining yet another personal best."
Coach Stefan Pearce said: "Richard is in really good form and has been working hard to get himself to this level of fitness.
"He is becoming well-known on the cycling circuit for giving top-level performances and for his dedication to the sport.
"And I am confident for a consistent finish to the season."
