RICHIE Appleby will be aiming to prove a point when he faces his former club Swansea City in Tuesday's re-arranged Nationwide League Division Three clash at the Vetch Field (7.45).

The influential midfielder fell out with the Swans management and was delighted when Harriers boss Jan Molby brought him to Aggborough in November.

Appleby said: "Jan obviously knew about my problems at Swansea so he approached them to see if I could come here on loan. Thankfully, Swansea agreed.

"I had fallen out with the management there and it looked as though I was going to spend the rest of my contract in the stands watching the lads play. I'm 26-year-old and at my age I need to be playing regular football."

Appleby, however, has fond memories of his time at Swansea who signed him from Ipswich Town when Molby was in charge at Vetch Field.

He said: "I had a great relationship with the fans there and, after spending over five years with them, it was sad to have to leave. But their fans have to understand that I wanted to play football. It was no good for either the club or myself to have me sitting in the stand twiddling my thumbs. That part of my life has now ended and it's great to be at Kidderminster. It's a smashing set-up and I'm thoroughly enjoying it."

Appleby firmly believes that Harriers have an excellent chance of securing a play-off place.

He said: "There's aren't many better teams than us in this league so if we can hold our nerve and keep on picking results up between now and April we may stand a chance."
