CAPTAIN Mark Blake has issued a 'give us a goal' plea to his fellow team-mates following Kidderminster Harriers barren start to the season which has left them with the unwanted record of being the Nationwide League's lowest scorers.

Harriers have netted a miserly five goals in 11 league games with the drought causing a run of eight matches without win.

And now midfielder Blake is looking for a far greater input from players throughout the team.

He said: "At the moment there's only Tony Bird who has any scoring form with four goals. I've got two and Andy Ducros one, so the whole team has got to contribute more.

"If the forwards aren't scoring then the rest of us need to be able to chip in more. I can get goals if the right balls are put in. It's all down to the quality of the service."

Although Kidderminster are coming in for criticism for their woeful scoring record, boss Jan Molby has been quick to praise those players who are doing their utmost to improve the side's disappointing campaign.

Among them is talented 20-year-old midfielder Ben Davies who has produced enough impressive displays to convince the Harriers' boss that the former Walsall trainee has what it takes to hit the big time.

The Dane said: "He is a hard worker who does everything with 100 per cent commitment.

"He is always one of the first in at training and always the last to leave. Sometimes you have to order him to go and rest."

Blake also thinks Davies has what it takes to make a major impact in the future.

He said: "He has the right attitude to become a very good professional footballer. He listens to advice and, more importantly, he learns from it. He plays to win and he will do anything within his power to do just that."

Meanwhile, Welsh international defender Ryan Green has joined Harriers on trial from Wolves.

Molby would like 20-year-old Cardiff-born right-back or sweeper to join on loan for the rest of the season, but unless he can off-load players it is unlikely the twice-capped Wales international will be able to go on the Aggborough pay-roll.

Molby said: "Ryan is not in the manager's plans at Wolves and I spoke to Dave Jones and he said by all means have a look.

"It's sometimes difficult for someone to come in and look good when he has been out in the cold for a while.

"We just want to have a look at his fitness which seems good."
