MORE than 30,000 visitors are expected at the Three Counties Showground over the weekend for Malvern's first Leisuretime Show.

The two-day event, which runs this weekend, is billed as a fun day out for all the family, featuring a wide range of attractions, from extreme sports and musclemen competitions to pop concerts and an appearance by home makeover queen Linda Barker.

"The show has been designed as a fun event aimed at every generation of the family with plenty of activities to try out," said press officer Sharon Gilbert.

Team Extreme, which features world champions of BMX, skateboarding and in-line skating, is bringing along a mini-ramp for the public to try their hand, but there will positively no last minute entries for the Midshires Strongest Man competition.

Eighteen strong men will be pulling lorries, flipping over giant tractor tyres and carrying huge weights during two days of lung-busting effort.

There will be pop shows by carbon copies of Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams and Karen Carpenter among a packed programme of main arena events. Linda Barker will at the show on Sunday to dispense advice on home improvements, meet visitors and sign autographs.

"We are earning quite a reputation for attracting high profile celebrities to showground events," Sharon added, "and we are confident Linda, with her effortless chic style of design, will prove to be an instant hit."

Among a galaxy of other attractions are an all-weather ice rink, have-a-go sessions for athletics, life-saving, indoor bowling, painting and martial arts, cookery workshops, rock 'n' roll routines, Punch and Judy displays and several hundred tradestands.

Malvern Leisuretime Show is open tomorrow and Sunday, 9am-6pm each day. Admission is adults £9, children 5-15 £2. A family ticket (two adults and up to three children) is £20.
