MALVERN Town registered their fifth consecutive pre-season victory with a 2-1 success at Midland Combination Premier Division Alveston on Saturday.

ALVESTON 1, MALVERN TOWN 2

After a sluggish opening, which the home side just about shaded, Malvern eventually found their feet. After a spell of sustained pressure, a superb touch from Des Cox set up Lee Hooper at the far post and the young striker made no mistake in giving his side a 33rd minute lead.

The second half saw Town continue to have the better of things, but they were set back when Alveston scored direct from a free kick in the 70th minute.

However, Town's response was immediate, when Dean Whittal-Williams, who is in discussion with Town over a possible short term loan from Lancaster, was fouled in the area and the confident Hooper stepped up to give his side the lead and register his seventh pre-season strike.
