SOME 87 competitors turned up from all over the country to take part in a fundraising harness racing event at Hanley Swan on Sunday.
The event was organised in aid of the Acorns Children's Hospice.
"We've got one or two outstanding bills to pay, but it should be round about £2,400," said Dave Shellam of the Three Counties Harness Racing Club.
A number of qualifying heats were held, culminating in a final with a £1,000 prize for the winner.
And bagging the top prize was Medina Hanover, owned and trained by Brian Davies of Brecon and ridden by Patsy Morris.
There was also a children's race, which was won by local lad Michael Cooper, aged eight, of Guarlford, on Sunshine Girl.
The event drew a good crowd of about 1,000 spectators, said Mr Shellam.
