NOMADS' Sunday 1st XI managed to complete their fixture in a tight affair at Harborne.
HARBORNE v WORCESTER NOMADS
Having found himself with 12 men, Nomads' captain Kelly stood down for the umpire's coat only to be asked by Harborne to make up the number for them, thus ensuring that he played on the winning side.
Electing to bat first on a decidedly wet wicket, Harborne found themselves in trouble at 50-5 as Andrews, Butterworth and Marsh used the new ball well.
A recovery in the later order including 20 by the No 11, Bersey, after being dropped without scoring, saw the total to 176 all out.
A promising stand for the second wicket saw Nomads cruising but Brighton (20) succumbed and eventually Leach (45) was out at a key moment in the innings.
In the middle order, Ranscombe (17) and Sandbrook, in particular, with 20, put the pressure back on again but the last pair of Andrews (12no) and Brown (14no) were unable to push up the scoring rate and Nomads finished 12 runs short.
