HEREFORDSHIRE were in a strong position on the opening day of their crucial Minor Counties Championship Western Division clash with Cornwall at Truro.
Despite only 29.1 overs being possible because of rain, Herefordshire still had time to reduce their hosts to 87-5 in their first innings, seam bowlers Kevin Cooper taking 3-30 and Simon Roberts 2-39.
Herefordshire need to win and hope that leaders Devon fail to beat Berkshire to win the title and go into the championship play-off with the Eastern Division winners.
