A LIVELY Marlbrook woman will get a taste of the Orient next month when she walks along the Great Wall of China for charity.
Chris Pascal, of Lickey Rock, has spent more than six busy months raising the £3,000 required to take part in the walk, starting on Sunday, September 22, organised by Charity Challenge.
She has organised a number of money spinning events including a car boot sale and a Queen's Jubilee tea party for the residents in Lickey Rock.
Donations have flooded in from organisations such as the Birmingham Festival Chorus Society and the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and all cash will go to the National Hospice Movement.
The 65-year-old has also been getting into shape for the week long trek, including regular sessions at LA Fitness, in Longbridge.
"I have been working out four or five times a week and I have just started doing yoga, which is brilliant," she said.
Chris will join 17 other kind-hearted people from across the country and has already made contact with one of the other participants, a woman from Stourbridge who she plans to share accommodation with.
"I am very excited. The more I talk about it the more I am looking forward to it.
"I was lucky enough to get a couple of days at the end of the walk, which I plan to spend exploring Beijing. I would really love to go to the Beijing Opera, it is supposed to be fantastic," she added.
If you would like to make a donation you can call Chris on 0121 445 4774.
