THOUSANDS of children are expected to flock to the Severn Valley Railway as Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends return to star in five live shows.
The railway's two "Day Out With Thomas" weekends take place tomorrow and Sunday, September 1, and Saturday and Sunday, September 7 and 8, at Kidderminster Town station.
A new storyline sees Duck the Pannier Tank back in a starring role with Thomas. The popular little green tank engine - which in real life is the 1930-built former Great Western Railway pannier tank - has been giving brake van rides at Bewdley.
For both weekends the 16-mile Kidderminster to Bridgnorth steam line will be taken over by character engines from the Reverend Wilbert Awdry's books.
Attractions
In stations up and down the line, other attractions include a Thomas bouncy castle, a bendy balloon man, Zeppo the Magic Clown, Punch and Judy and Thomas videos on a big screen.
But Kidderminster Town station will be the main focus of activity, both as a stage for the live steam shows (daily at 11am, 12.25pm, 1.35pm, 2.25pm and 4.10pm) and the place where children can ride the Coalyard Miniature Railway.
Children can also meet Bulgy the Bus, an ex-London double-decker and Mavis the Diesel Tram.
The railway will be running one of its busiest timetables of the year, with trains starting from Kidderminster at 9.15am and from Bridgnorth at 10.30am, at 50-minute intervals.
Admission to Day Out with Thomas, including travel on all trains, is £11 for adults and £5 for children aged two to 15.
