THE first totally smoke-free inn in the county of Herefordshire is listed in a new guide to smoke-free eating and drinking in the county.
The Ancient Camp Inn, set in beautiful surroundings at Ruckhall, Eaton Bishop, is owned and run by David Tomlinson, who serves food and drink in a totally smoke-free environment.
Smokers are welcome, but requested to smoke outside, where there are tables and chairs overlooking the River Wye, with views over the countryside.
The Smoke Free Guide lists all kinds of eating and drinking places, including a castle, cathedral, church, animal and bird farms, cheese-making dairy, garden centres, National Trust properties and antique shops.
"Owners of these establishments recognise that being non-smoking is good for business and good for their staff and customers' health," said smoking cessation co-ordinator Barbara Bennett, of Herefordshire Primary Care Trust.
The guide is available from Herefordshire's Tourist Information Centres.
