I HAVE no doubt Matthew A Clarke worked very hard to acquire his degree in mythology but that is hardly any substitute for a lifetime dealing with people.
Come off it, Mr Clarke, you are trying to score Brownie points with references to cannabis when I have made it abundantly clear I have been dealing with the drugs problem as a whole.
The whole point of my argument is that people willingly respond to positive leadership and example, but rebel against authoritarian threats. The illicit drugs industry knows exactly how to exploit this and instructs its minions accordingly. That is no exaggeration.
For more than 80 years we have tried to protect people against their own folly by the methods advocated by Mr Clarke and have failed miserably. Is it not time we tried another approach?
