AN ex-mayor of Worcester could soon be a talking point in a village pub after the landlady urged people to bring in old photographs.
Judy Allen, landlady of The Mug House, in Claines, asked people to bring in old pictures to help uncover the history of the villagers.
In April, the Evening News revealed how Mrs Allen wanted images taken before the 1950s to hang on her pub wall.
She hoped it would encourage punters to swap information about people in the photos and help her research the history of the pub, church and village.
Since the story, Mrs Allen has been inundated with offers.
"One chap, Herbert Evans, sent me a picture from Bournemouth," she said.
"They used to call him Bert. He's nearly 100 years old himself and everybody is dressed up in Victorian clothes on the photo."
Mrs Allen said the photo was taken across the road from the pub.
"The photo was taken 89 years ago - Herbert was eight then," said Mrs Allen.
"He was Mayor of Worcester from 1964 to 1965.
"The picture is a double celebration - it's the golden wedding of Bert's grandparents George and Sara Jane Pritchard and the wedding of their nephew, George Pritchard and wife Lillian."
Letter
Mrs Allen, who has managed the pub for the past 13 years with her son Russell, said she had also received a letter and photographs from Mildred Kilbane, whose mother used to work at The Mug House.
"Mildred has lots of photos of places that are no longer here," said Mrs Allen.
"Her mum worked in the pub cleaning the flag stones in the bar."
Mrs Allen, already has a few photographs hung up by the bar, which have proved to be a talking point with customers, including a photo taken in 1914 of a man on a horse outside the pub.
"I've been so busy in the pub I haven't had time to put them up yet - it's a winter project," said Mrs Allen.
