STOURPORT Swifts battled back from a nightmare start to claim their third point of the season in a 1-1 Dr Martens Western Division draw at Clevedon Town.

And there is more to come from the Swifts, according to new manager Dave Titterton.

The former Coventry City and Wycombe Wanderers player said he was delighted with the spirit shown by his players, including four making their debut.

Titterton explained: "I told the players that, as far as I was concerned, this would be the first game of the season.

"With that in mind, I'm delighted because we are unbeaten.

"Some of the young lads listened to what we were trying to do and responded well by putting it into practice at Clevedon.

"We cannot work miracles overnight but there is a lot more to come from Stourport this season."

Swifts found themselves trailing after just 58 seconds when Olly Price found the net after latching on to a Dave Watts free-kick.

They were almost on level terms four minutes later when Jan Mulders headed across the face of the Clevedon goal, while substitute Sean Wright was denied by a good save from keeper Dave Mogg.

Clevedon piled on the pressure at the start of the second period and Swifts' Steve Nicholson produced an excellent stop to deny James Zabek on 63 minutes.

The equaliser came 12 minutes from the end when former Kidderminster Harriers player Parfait Medou-Oyte powered through the home defence before shooting past Mogg.

The closing stages saw the introduction of another Frenchman in El Hadj Malick Sal and he could have secured a first win of the season for Swifts with a late effort but Mogg was well placed to deal with his shot.
