I AM writing in response to John Hinton's somewhat obnoxious response to my comments regarding their clocks in the city centre.

I feel it rather sad that in the 21st Century, Mr Hinton feels it necessary to pass comment (be it indirectly) on the Second World War.

I have no wish to criticise the British. However, had my comments been aired by an Englishman, I am certain that Mr Hinton would not have felt it necessary to make such a reference.

Such allusions to the war and Mr Hinton's comments regarding "personal timepieces" represent a small-minded and archaic attitude, which along with Mr Hinton surely belong in the past.
