SUPPORT for calls to upgrade eye services at the Alexandra Hospital may come from Redditch Council.
Councillor Karen Lumley will request at a full council meeting that grave concern be expressed about the future of the ophthalmology department.
The move follows Bromsgrove Council's decision last week that the authority throws its weight behind the campaign to retain eye services there.
Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, which manages the Alexandra Hospital, is currently reviewing eye services across the county.
Campaigners at one stage feared they may be moved out of Redditch and Bromsgrove and started a petition.
Although it now seems certain some sort of service will remain at the hospital, focus has now switched to calling for a service equal to Worcester and Kidderminster.
