The final show of the season was a riot of colour, with classes for dahlias, chrysanthemums, Michaelmas daisies, nerines, roses and fuchsias, as well as vegetables.
Former president Frank Young, in his 50th year as an exhibitor, presented the awards as follows:
Jim Greenhow Cup (annual award for most total points in the three shows), Caswill Cup (most points in special classes over the three shows), and rosette for best in horticultural section - Michael Ecob; Autumn Cup (best exhibit in show), and rosette for best domestic sections - Doreen Parfitt; Powell Cup (potatoes) - Anne Childe; John Wynne cup (best vase of mixed flowers) - show secretary Eileen Fletcher. Children's awards: Under-11 - Edmund Harrison, U-7 - Abigail Goulde; best pot plant - Austin James.
The harvest supper will be held in the village hall on Saturday, October 26, with entertainment provided by guest singer Margaret Peters.
