FROM the FA Cup to the Worcestershire Senior Cup!
Redditch's glorious FA Cup adventure came to an ignominious halt against lower league Arnold Town at the weekend.
Wingers Matty Hall and Alex Cowley at times embarrassed the visiting full backs but, frustratingly for most of a bumper 400 plus crowd, United again failed to turn the pressure into chances.
And the late lapses in concentration which have dogged the Reds this season surfaced again a minute from time as United threw away £10,000 in winnings.
And to add insult to injury, Arnold secured a glamour home draw in the Fourth Qualifying Round to former league club Scarborough, who sit seventh in the Nationwide Conference.
The £20,000 winnings may have been a faint hope but United would have again been expecting a big crowd.
Rod Brown's side had just three days to regroup ahead of last night's Senior Cup trip to Dr Martens Western rivals Sutton Coldfield Town.
New signing Gary Knight was ineligible, the former Portsmouth and Solihull stopper has been signed after a month at Gresley and his arrival could signal the exit door for one of United's current back line with Brown under strict constraints on the size of his Valley squad.
The Reds chief gave central defender Anthony Hall, brother of Matty, a place on the bench after recalling him from Bridgnorth, where he has been on loan since pre-season.
Dennis Mulholland was unavailable for a match which saw Redditch a goal down when the game was abandoned because of a wterlogged pitch 17 minutes from time.
Cowley has an ankle injury and midfielder Richard Softley was ruled out with a foot injury.
Youngster Chris Hill was on the bench.
Redditch have the chance to banish their Cup disappointment and get their league form back on track as Brown chases his stated aim of a top six finish.
Redditch entertain lowly Clevedon on Saturday (ko 3pm) and fifth placed Evesham United in a Worcestershire derby on Tuesday (ko 7.30pm).
Redditch will try again at Sutton Coldfield Town on Tuesday, November 5, ko 7.45pm.
