Two star

OH how I wanted to like this album and give it a great review.

If for no other reason than to stick two fingers up to all those music 'experts' out there who believe that just because Will was chosen by Joe Public from a TV show (shock horror), he has no talent and does not deserve a place in today's musical establishment.

But sadly, this is not the album to make his point and critics will jump gleefully on the 'we told you so' bandwagon.

It has nothing whatsoever to do with Will, whose voice is just as sweet, soulful and soothing as it always has been.

It's the choice of songs which lets him down and makes this album less of a soulfest and more of a snoozefest.

Apart from the singles which have been so played to death it's hard to forget them, the rest of the album is like a bout of amnesia and even now, just a few hours after listening to it, I can't remember a single title, let alone hum a tune from it.

Will gives it his best shot and like the trouper he is, his talent manages to shine through the dross-like material.

The Long and Winding Road is a nice version of the Beatles' classic, although slightly too long and winding for me.

This should come with a warning - don't drive or operate machinery while listening to this as it may cause drowsiness.
