THE Northfield Starlets Veterans held their regular Tuesday contest on Woodlands View's Deans pool.
The hot spot area at the moment is in the 60s and John Joyce (Halesowen) made no mistake when he pulled out peg 62 from the draw bag to pole fish chopped worms and casters for a top catch of 44-8-0.
Ken Giles (Alvechurch) was a close second with 42-12-0; third, John Osman (Northfield), had 30-11-0.
On Wednesday, the Moorlands Farm Meadow pool open was won by Harry Ward (Moorlands) with a pole and corn catch of 77-6-0 from peg 20. Second placed Alan Oram (Bristol) had 651-0-0 and third, Mal Coley (West Mids), took 54-1-0.
The Moorlands Farm Special costcutter open was fished on the Meadow pool and it was Bewdley matchman Bill Drew who showed the way with a ton-up catch of 107-7-0 by pole fishing corn from peg 12.
Runner-up David James (Trabucco) had 74-3-0 while third was Barry Garner (Kamasan) with 71-0-0.
Good catches were recorded at the Telfish AC Fur and Feather contest, which was held at Barbourne pool, Cotheridge near Worcester.
Club treasurer Pete May, after advice from a local club member, switched to corn bait to take a winning 54-2-0 on short pole from peg 18.
Jim Pedley took second place with 46-2-0 and third was Graham Upton's 37-9-0. Yours truly Tony Brunn managed fourth with 36-1-0 to go into the knockout final with Pedley at the club's end of year event next month.
The Midland Bears Disabled AC were at Woodlands View's Barley pool for their latest encounter and again close weights divided the top three.
Mick Hands (Northfield) led the field with a 46-0-0 catch taken with pole and meat from peg eight. Gary Pinfield (Bromsgove) was second with 40-2-0 and third was Al Lees (Charfod), taking 38-3-0.
The Starlets KH Veterans Elmbridge fishery Championships was held on the Heron and Peacock pools. Giles (Alvechurch) moved up a gear to take a winning 39-6-0 catch and the trophy by pole fishing chopped worms and casters at Peacock peg 13.
Second, Brian Dickinson (Bewdley), took 35-14-0 and Albert Parker (Yardley) in third with 35-12-0.
On Saturday, Lucas Great King Street AC fished their event at Makins Fishery on phase one, pool four.
In first place was Graham Lane, who pole fished corn at peg 15 for 57-10-0. Close on his heels was Steve Bedford with 54-14-0; third was Steve Talbot's 34-0-0.
Birmingham Fire Brigade AC took on Cotteridge Social AC in the second round of the BAA Knockout Cup at Fladbury on the River Avon.
Fire Brigade AC members filled the top three places headed by Rubery top rod Rick Walker, who included a specimen 2-13-0 Perch in his 10-5-0 catch taken with feeder and maggots from halfway down the meadow below Jubilee Bridge.
Second was Kevin Saxelby's 10-4-0 with Steve Marke taking 9-9-0 for third. Birmingham Fire Brigade go through to the next round with a six-man weight of 44-13-0 to Cotteridge Social's 21-15-0.
At Woodlands View, the Deans pool open produced some excellent catches topped by Sean McCarthy (Pill Angling) with Carp up to the ten pounds mark totalling 142-2-0, caught with pole fished chopped worms and casters from peg 63.
Second place went to Lee Pistachio (Pill Angling) with 136-8-0; third was Nathan Watson's (Harrisons Tackle) 112-7-0.
Sunday's Woodlands View Deans pool open went to Worcester matchman Terry King (Greenman) who pole fished corn and meat at peg 39 for a 124-8-0 catch. Steve Waters (Oxford Drennan) followed with 108-11-0 and third was Jason Neath (Shakespeare) with 93-0-0.
The 100 AC held its annual contest on the BAA Grimley waters of the River Severn. Club chairman Marke found a six pound plus Barbel late in the match to go with some earlier small fish to put a winning 7-14-8 on the scales for victory.
Yours truly Tony Brunn was second with two small Bream plus 250 Bleak for 7-8-8. Third was Adrian Close's 3-14-0.
At Moorlands Farm the Island and Moors pools open was won by Chris Cameron (Gloucs) by short pole fishing chopped worms and casters at Moors pool peg six for a 50-2-0 catch.
Mike Lutwych (Foster) took 41-8-0 for second while third went to Adam Toal (Lifestyle), taking 40-2-0.
