REDDITCH obviously had their minds on other things during a limp defeat to a side who were spanked 7-0 at the weekend.
The hosts did little to threaten with Naveed Arshad anonymous up front and wingers Matty Hall and Alex Cowley putting in subdued performances.
The visitors could boast two internationals in St Kitts and Nevis caps Michael Crawford and Gary Smith but had to rely on the United back line to gift them their opener 38 minutes in.
Neil Manton played the ball into his own area and watched as keeper Richard Anstiss and stopper Lee Knight both hesitated to allow Paul Tomlinson to fire wide of a stranded Anstiss.
Within seven minutes Redditch had levelled in a dour encounter with another freakish goal.
Hall sent in a huge up-and-under from the left and midfielder Richard Field's attempted header back across goal from the far post looped over Gresley keeper James Lindley and in.
In the 54th minute visiting captain Gary Knight scored what proved to be the winner when he swivelled and hooked one home after United failed to clear their lines after a corner.
But it was the Gresley keeper who provided the one moment of breathtaking skill in the game when he produced a phenomenal double save from Lee Knight and Neil Manton on the hour.
Lindley blocked Knight's effort, from two yards out, with his body after a goalmouth scramble, and as Manton pounced for a certain goal the falling keeper stuck out an arm and miraculously deflected the shot wide.
But a draw would have been harsh on Gresley who brought the best out of Anstiss with saves from sub Craig Hopkins and Crawford late on before Smith finally beat the Reds shot-stopper three minutes from time, only to see his effort come back to the relieved keeperoff the foot of the post.
