A WOMAN who died in a car crash on Tuesday has been formally identified and named.
Audrey Bishop, aged 66, from Hereford, was the front-seat passenger in a blue Nissan Micra which was in collision with a silver Volvo 740 travelling in the opposite direction, towards Leominster.
The accident happened on the A49 Hereford to Leominster road, at Dinmore, on the Leominster side of Dinmore Hill.
Miss Bishop suffered head injuries in the accident and was taken to Hereford County Hospital by ambulance.
She was pronounced dead soon after arrival.
The female driver of the Nissan Micra was also taken to Hereford County Hospital, suffering from chest injuries and shock, and was kept in overnight for observation.
The male driver of the silver Volvo suffered minor bruising and shock and was also taken to Hereford County Hospital and later released.
The road had to be closed for five hours, with diversions in place, while emergency services worked to clear the area.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident, which happened at about 4.25pm, or anyone who saw either car travelling along the A49 prior to the crash.
Anyone with information should phone PC Colin Kerfoot at Hereford Police Station, on 01432 276422.
