WORCESTER can boast its very own ''awesome foursome'' after two couples ran the Great North Run earlier this month.
Shelagh and David Cartwright, and Pat and Steve Gough are long-term friends and neighbours in Lower Broadheath.
The four ran the 13-mile Newcastle to South Shields run on Sunday, October 6.
Mrs Gough took part in the event two years ago, but it was the first time for the others.
Shelagh, aged 48 and a mother of three, and her 51-year-old husband ran the race side-by-side, completing the course in two hours and 39 minutes.
Pat, 48, and Steve, 47, did it in a two hours and 36 minutes, also finishing the course together.
Mr Gough ran to raise funds for Dines Green Junior School, where he is the headteacher.
Mr and Mrs Cartwright's sponsored run raised £800 for the County Air Ambulance.
