Worcestershire County Council's cabinet faced some tough questions when members of the public had the chance to quiz them at a special question time session.
The event was held at County Hall as part of Local Democracy Week which aims to bring voters closer to their representatives.
BBC presenter Bernadette Kearney chaired the session that saw nearly 100 residents turn up to put their questions to the authority's leading politicians.
Subjects ranged from education provision and social care to public transport.
"It was great to see such a good turnout for the event, especially as the weather was so bad," said council leader, Dr George Lord. "The heavy rain certainly did not dampen anyone's spirit!"
"I thought it was a very useful exercise and one we will certainly repeat in the near future.
"It's important that residents know the vital role they play in democracy at Worcestershire County Council.
"And of course, public participation is something that is encouraged before every cabinet and full council meeting," he added.
