GIVEN the colossal sums of money already squandered, and those still earmarked for job-creation schemes for otherwise unemployable pick-and-shovel merchants, which merely result in traffic chaos, more pollution and delays to the allegedly perfect ambulance service, is it not time our Health Concern councillors returned to their roots and the single issue on which they were elected?
Instead of turning the entire Wyre Forest district into a glorified pedestrian precinct where the elderly, the disabled and shoppers with more than two carrier bags are no longer welcome, perhaps all this money might have been better directed towards funding an independent Accident and Emergency Unit within what is left of Kidderminster Hospital.
Or is it true that some people, given a tiny bit of authority, are immediately overwhelmed with delusions of adequacy.
