DESPITE Sunday's downpour, the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway's steam and vintage fair was one of the biggest events yet seen at the heritage line's Toddington Station.
Visitors were transported back to a bygone age, with historic fair ground engines, farm equipment, traction engines and more than 200 cars and motorbikes. As usual, steam trains plied their way along the railway's 13 miles of restored track.
Commercial Director of GWR Ian Crowder said: "When the rain really started to come down on Sunday we stopped charging people admission. Despite the thorough watering a good time was had by all."
The railway's next event will be its autumn diesel gala this weekend. Five diesel trains will be in use, and a limited number of spaces will be available for people to drive engines for £10. The gala runs from Friday to Sunday. To find out more call 01242 621405. The railway is already taking bookings for its Father Christmas Specials that run throughout December.
