WORCESTER Triathlon Club member Karen Metcalf has become the European Ladies Veteran Police champion.
The race took place in Guernsey and Metcalf was a member of the West Mercia Constabulary team.
In her first Olympic distance event for seven years, Metcalf was well pleased with her performance as she has been plagued with an Achilles injury for four months.
The race consisted of a 1500 metre open water swim, 40km bike and a 10km run.
In the Ludlow Triathlon the club's lady super veteran Maureen Burrows was beaten by 15 seconds to finish second in her class.
Les Bailey travelled to North Yorkshire for the Stokesley Duathlon BTA series race, a tough 10km run, 37km bike and a 5km run.
He won the over 60 year category by over three minutes in a time of 2.07.09 which puts him in good heart for this weekend's World Duathlon Championship in Atlanta, United States, where he is a member of the Great B age group team.
There were 139 finishers at Stokesley with winning male, Brian Field, doing a time of 1.46.05 and the first female Michelle Parsons 2.02.39. The run was on quiet undulating lanes with the bike course on a mixture of twisty hilly lanes and a fast dual carriageway.
In the Stourport 10km Road Race, Kevin May did a fast 37.26. He hoped to go under 37 minutes but still managed to finish 18th from over 200 competitors.
Good running conditions prevailed, warm and dry with little wind. The winner's time was a speedy 34.13.
