BIRDS in Worcester will have somewhere snug to shelter this winter, thanks to the efforts of a city Scout group and environmental charity.
A Duckworth Worcestershire Trust warden visited the 3rd Worcestershire Beaver Scouts at their Vicar Street hut, off Rainbow Hill, and helped them make bird boxes.
"We have different people come in to talk to the children to give them a wider knowledge of what goes on in Worcester," said Scout leader Sue Robinson.
"I spoke to the Duckworth Worcestershire Trust and was told that for the age range, bird boxes would be the best thing to make and they are ideal to promote birds back in to the gardens."
The six to eight-year-old Beaver Scouts - both boys and girls - each had a box to make when head warden James Cooper went along on Wednesday.
"Some of the children are going to put them in their gardens and keep a diary of when birds use them," said Mrs Robinson.
"We are hoping for The Duckworth Worcestershire Trust to come back again early next year and speak to us."
