IT is with regret that I write of the passing of Mrs Frances May Bundy who died peacefully in Tewkesbury Hospital at the age of 86. Mrs Bundy came to Eldersfield at the age of 20 and lived at Moorend House. She will be remembered by many, especially former pupils of Corse School where she was dinner lady for many years. She was also mother's help to all the local doctor's children, Dr W Wilson, Dr T Bradford and Dr W Cuthbertson. She will be sadly missed by all her family to whom we offer our sincere sympathy, her son Leslie and his wife Valerie, her daughter Gladys and her husband Archie. She was much loved grandmother to Louise, Claire and Duncan and her four great grandsons. She was laid to rest in Eldersfield Churchyard following the funeral service.
Winners in Corse and Staunton Village Hall 100 Club draw for August were 1 Mrs A Rolli, 2 Mr I Wilkes, 3 Mrs L Lewis, 4 Mr M Harley. September winners were 1 Mrs J Latter, 2 Mrs Langford, 3 Mrs L Houldey, 4 Mr C Broomfield.
People in Corse and Staunton were very badly hit on the coldest day of the winter by a power cut, which affected a lot of homes. People cooking their Sunday lunch were caught by the cut, which in many cases power wasn't restored until 10.30pm.
