A WORCESTER company has achieved "spectacular" success in a national awards scheme.
BizzEnergy, a leading supplier of electricity to businesses, has been short-listed in three categories in the Sage Business Awards 2002, run in partnership with the Daily Telegraph.
The awards are designed to recognise and reward successful businesses in Britain.
BizzEnergy, based on the Berkeley Business Park, in Warndon, employs 40 people.
The company has experienced remarkable growth in sales and customer numbers since it began trading two years ago.
It is a finalist in the Best Growth Through Use of Technology category in the awards, which looks at the correlation between the implementation of an IT solution and growth in profits, customer base or employees.
The company has been nominated for the award due to its streamlined, internet-enabled systems.
"We've removed all the techno-babble from the web site," said Sussanne Chambers, BizzEnergy's director of marketing. "This allows customers to input a minimal amount of information to get a quote, which will allow an easy comparison with what they're currently paying."
Ms Chambers said 92 per cent of customers said the company's web site was easy to use and 87 per cent received a quote for the supply of energy in less than five minutes.
BizzEnergy has also reached the finals of the Fastest Growing Business category in the awards.
For this award, judges looked for businesses that are looking to exploit new opportunities and markets and are constantly revisiting processes, products, and services to make sure they stay ahead of the competition.
BizzEnergy's turnover leapt from £17.8m a year, in April 2002, to £80m a year in October 2002.
BizzEnergy's chief executive, Eddie Hyams, has also reached the finals of the awards, in the Best Business Leader category. He was nominated by the employees at BizzEnergy
Key skills the judges were looking for in this category included vision, influence, dedication, an ability to communicate at all levels and treating people with fairness and respect.
Ms Chambers said that reaching the finals in all three categories the company entered was a great endorsement of the commitment of the people at BizzEnergy and its business strategy.
"It's a well-deserved recognition of business success that shows that BizzEnergy is among the best of British businesses."
