A TEENAGE mother-of-two was found with football shirts hidden in her baby's pushchair as she left a Worcester department store.

Leanne Croke-Loveridge, aged 18, was stopped by security guards at Debenhams as she tried to leave with the stolen shirts, Worcester magistrates heard yesterday.

Stephen Davis, prosecuting, said she was spotted walking around looking at clothes with a man and pushing a baby in a pushchair.

"Security guards saw the man put football shirts in a tray under the pushchair," he said.

"The defendant then went to leave the store. She was stopped and arrested."

Croke-Loveridge, of Gresham Road, Dines Green, admitted trying to steal the shirts, which were valued at £350.

Charles Hamer, defending, said her criminal record spoke for itself.

"It represents the life of a young woman who has had many difficulties," he said.

"She has resorted to dishonesty to deal with her lack of funds."

He said she first fell pregnant at the age of 13, and the father of her children was in prison.

Magistrates imposed a 12-month rehabilitation order and ordered her to pay £30 costs.
