A NURSE from Droitwich is running the New York Marathon next month for charity.
Sara Rose, aged 35, is a member of the Worcester Athletics Club but this will be her first marathon.
She will be joined by two other club members - Amanda Jeffrey and Nicola Walker - for the event on Saturday, November 3.
Miss Rose, who works in the cardiac services critical care unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, in Birmingham, has decided to run the marathon for the Worcester branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society and is looking for sponsorship.
"I've got friends with MS and you see how it affects them," said Miss Rose, who moved to Droitwich from Solihull, Birmingham, 14 months ago.
"It affects the nervous system and the brain's impulses don't get through properly, meaning it's hard to control your arms and legs."
Miss Rose runs twice a week with the athletics club, which she joined two years ago, and also manages to go out for an "extra long" run at weekends.
She has no set target for the money she wants to raise.
"Anything I can raise will be useful," she said.
If you would like to sponsor Miss Rose, send cheques and postal orders to: Sara Rose, PO Box 99, Droitwich WR9 9ZQ.
