A FATHER-of-two has escaped being sent to prison days after the birth of his second child.
Paul Ilott, aged 22, was stopped by police at the Tesco superstore in Warndon and found to be driving while disqualified, Worcester magistrates heard yesterday.
Stephen Davis, prosecuting, said he gave false details to the police and initially refused to give them his address.
The offence took place on Tuesday, September 17. Ilott admitted driving while disqualified, having no insurance or test certificate and obstructing police.
Mark Lister, defending, said Ilott, of Ennerdale Drive, Warndon, had recently moved to Worcester from Cheltenham, to escape from bad influences and had driven because he was not familiar with the bus routes in the area.
He said Ilott's girlfriend would suffer more than he would if he was sent to prison, because she would be left to look after their three-year-old and five-day-old daughters.
Magistrates gave him 200 hours' community punishment and eight points on his driving licence. They also ordered him to pay £55 costs.
