THE fact that two people disagree with D E Margrett is more a vindication of his ignorance than his objectivity.

He states that Israel should refrain from interfering in the affairs of other states. Could he let me know exactly when this has happened during the course of history?

His suggestion for a secular state of Israel further betrays a poor knowledge of history, by missing the whole point of why Israel defends itself so determinedly.

The Jews don't want the land of Israel as part of some expansionist plot, but because the consequences of not having a Jewish homeland are starkly illustrated by more than 2,000 years in exile culminating in the Holocaust.

Incidentally, the reason for US support is as a result of Israel being the only democracy in the Middle East.

I think most freedom-loving people in this country would see this as sound politics.
