BOSS Ian Britton has praised mid-fielder Sam Shilton for the way he has responded to his introduction into Kidderminster Harriers' starting line-up.
The 24-year-old has spent more time than he would have liked on the subs bench in the past, but has recently been relishing the chance to prove his worth.
The son of former England goalkeep-ing legend Peter made his debut for Kidderminster in the first match of last season - a campaign which ended with him making 18 first team appearances and another 13 on the bench.
It looked like being a similar story this term until Britton gave the him the chance of a run in the starting line-up.
The Aggborough chief said: "I must say how pleased I am for Shilton that he has taken his chance so well this year, but I know that one player's success is often another player's frustration. I realise I am not going to keep everybody happy but as always I'll treat everyone the same, giving individuals the respect they deserve and by being direct and honest."
Another player making the most of his run in Harriers starting line-up is 20-year-old Lee Ayres, who has produced several impressive displays in the Aggborough rear-guard.
Before this term he had performed in just 11 first team matches and one as a substitute.
Before today's clash at Shrewsbury Town he had already equalled that number of appearances this season and caught the eye of team-mate Adie Smith.
The former Bromsgrove Rovers player said of rookie Ayres: "I'd like to congratulate him on his performances since establishing himself in the side. He has been brilliant."
