I HAVE recently received an anonymous letter from a resident of Claines who objects to the planned alterations to improve the facilities at the Church Hall in Cornmeadow Lane, and is hoping to enlist other nimbys who also feel that their Utopian existence is being threatened.

As a member of The George Cowley Experience, I have first hand experience of the wrath of the "nothing better to worry about brigade" having (following faceless objections) been banned from the very same church hall - and issued with a Statutory Noise Notice, for the crime of having a evening band practice there for two hours once a week.

OK, so it was loud, but so is a hedgecutter and the squeak of sponge against bonnet on a Sunday morning, and I have no desire to form a Claines Residents Against Privet action group to stop such activities.

I find it very amusing that people purchase a house in the proximity of a hall designed and used for music and dancing, and then object to occasional noise in the evenings.

The improvements to the hall would no doubt give benefits to a large number of people in the community, but will probably be stopped by a few people who haven't heard of the expression live and let live.

PAUL ROSE,

Claines, Worcester.
