SIMPLE arithmetic proves that the proposals by the New Labour councillors (the so-called Labour group) of less involvement and decision-making by the councillors - who were voted in to represent the people - will obviously mean less democracy.
In reply to Councillor Marc Bayliss (You Say, October 15) I would say that unlike New Labour, I welcome any increase in democratic public participation.
People from all political persuasions are showing deep concern over the reports from other towns and cities on the vulnerability, actual abuse and lack of secrecy during the 100 per cent postal vote trial period.
Is this perhaps the system that Coun Marc Bayliss mentions and appears willing to propose and support?
Independently-minded people totally subscribe to democracy, and should I require an example of true democracy, I obviously would not look to New Labour.
BRIAN HUNT, Worcester.
