VILLAGERS have supported action for a new housing development on a gypsy encampment in Bidford.
About 80 per cent of the 1,331 respondents wanted to see new housing built on the green field site at Friday Furlong on which nearly 80 gypsies already live.
If development were to get the go-ahead the gypsies are said to be happy to move out of the area.
On other development in the area, the majority of villagers did not want to see Grafton Lane housing demolished.
And the Marriage Hill development, proposed by Color Estates, also got the thumbs down from villagers after nearly 90 per cent of those polled said they did not want to see it developed.
Villagers also want to see more low-cost starter homes and an increase in the number of family houses in the village.
