AN action plan to improve the quality of life for Redditch people by offering a wider range of facilities and activities is now being drawn up.

The move follows the launch of a countywide cultural strategy which was written up following extensive consultation with towns residents and focus groups.

Activities already running in Redditch, including dads and lads clubs and the in-line skater hockey club, have been flagged up in the strategy as successful pilots which could be set up elsewhere.

But Redditch was also identified as having no identity, apathy and a poor bus service.

The town centre was described as being a "wasteland" with little cohesion between the old and new town.

The action plan will be released early next year.
