PUPILS in Redditch have received a welcome boost to the growing number of Young Engineers' Club thanks to the generosity of businessmen.
Redditch Manufacturers' Association (RMA) members have donated £500 for a video to help the clubs, which teach eight and nine year olds practical ways to understand the workings of everyday objects.
The children build model gliders and helicopters, working telescopes, cranes and bridges as a way of introducing them to the world of engineering.
There are eight Young Engineers' Clubs at first schools in the town and 20 other schools have shown interest in setting one up.
The RMA is now working with the Young Engineers Club network and Wemtech to find further funding and engineers to work with teachers in setting up new clubs.
