Pershore 9, Newtown 0
PERSHORE moved to the top of the table after Lisle's hat-trick in Saturday's emphatic cruise to victory.
With Newtown having drawn against Ludlow - a team that Pershore struggled to overcome in the first DTZ league game of the season - the previous week, Pershore expected a tough test.
Indeed, the visitors started brightly, but ten minutes into the first half Pershore opened the scoring with a viciously
struck short corner from Lisle.
Pershore now turned on the style and had a three-goal cushion within ten minutes thanks to finishes from Whiting and Hughes.
This enabled Pershore to introduce debutant Pete Offiah who had an instant impact as he reverse struck the ball into the bottom right-hand corner.
The second half followed much the same pattern with goals flowing from corners of the park.
Even though the score indicates a completely one-sided
game, the visiting attackers kept the Pershore defence and midfield on their toes and good performances from Hawkes, Junior; Whiting and Attwood helped keep a clean sheet.
In addition to Lisle's treble, Whiting and Matt Hughes both scored twice with Jamie Hughes and Offiah also on target.
A good all-round performance that will send out a strong message to other teams in the second division of West Midlands DTZ League.
