Cheltenham CS 1,
Chipping Campden Ladies 3
CAMPDEN, sponsored by Pyments, were only able to field ten players for Saturday's friendly fixture at Pates GS.
However, they were quick out of the blocks and created an early chance that went begging. They weren't quite as wasteful when Sarah Bragg chased a pass and drew it back for Shirley Aubrey to find the target.
Fine dribbling skills from Angharad Morgan saw her leave home defenders trailing before slipping the ball past the goalkeeper to double Campden's lead.
The same player then doubled her own tally and made it 3-0 with a fierce shot from the edge of the area.
Civil Service upped the tempo after the break but found Sally Holmes, Becky Ewens and Claire Wright in solid mood at the back. The defence was only breached once when a shot took a wicked deflection to give the hosts a consolation.
Campden entertain Blockley on Sunday morning.
Badsey Ladies 3, Malvern 0
BADSEY maintained their scoring average in Saturday's friendly as they took their goals total to 15 in five matches.
They had the best of the early play at Redditch RUFC and took the lead courtesy of a cracking shot from Jo Cassey after good work by Lynn Townson and Claire Jones.
The latter then doubled her side's advantage after Jane Rickey's shot was blocked by the Malvern goalkeeper.
Player of the match, Louise King, excelled at the heart of the Badsey defence to ensure Malvern didn't get back into the game and it was left to Jones to seal the win with a reverse stick effort after a slick passing move.
Badsey are back in league action this weekend with a visit to Birmingham to face Old Silhillians.
Evesham 2, Blockley 1
THE weather was perfect as Evesham staged a friendly match at Stratford Astro.
A good start had Evesham winning a good percentage of the ball and, after 25 minutes of pressure, Becky Lewis fired in a debut goal.
Evesham changed format at the interval with Carley Reynolds and Becci Higgs having to leave the field. Liz Sterling, though, rallied the team round and led by example by notching her side's second.
Against the play, Blockley hit a cracking short corner strike which left the defence helpless but Evesham hung on for a narrow win.
Player of the match was Natasha Kuiper who is proving to be a key player in what was a fine team effort.
The next match is against Worcester Norton at home on Saturday.
Training is on Monday nights at Evesham High School where all are welcome for a 7.30pm start. Contact Berni on 01386 834772 for details.
