WORRIED taxi drivers who fear late night buses could affect their livelihood, are attaching stickers to their vehicles to publicise their campaign.
The stickers which read "No Tax Payers Money 4 Late Nite Buses" are urging the public to support drivers in their campaign by continuing to use taxis.
"All taxis over Worcester are putting the stickers on their cars," said Ziafat Hussain, a driver with Blue Star Taxis.
"They are on most of the cars at the moment.
It is thought the £40,000 bus scheme, which has been funded from the Government's Urban Bus Challenge Fund, could jeopardise the livelihood of the city's estimated 250 taxi drivers.
Earlier this week, the Evening News reported how private hire vehicle drivers vowed to petition both the city and county councils over plans to implement 53-seater buses on late-night services across Worcester.
"The £40,000 will come from taxpayers' money," said Mr Hussain.
"We are trying to get the public to be aware that the late night bus services will be going through estates at two or three o'clock in the morning.
"Groups of 10 or 12 lads will be waking up people as they get off the buses."
The six month trial, which is due to start on Friday, December 6, will be operating on a circular loop connecting the city centre to Dines Green and Warndon from 11.45pm and 3.45am.
The evening fares will be £1.50.
