THE owner of a Pershore kebab takeaway was fined £1,200 with £824 costs by magistrates at Worcester last Friday after breaching food safety regulations.
Wychavon District Council prosecuted Dogan Okur, 34, of the Pershore Kebab House, High Street, for breaches of the Food Safety (General Hygiene) Regulations under the Food Safety Act 1990.
The Regulations set out very specific guidelines for the safe handling of food by businesses, including storage, preparation and sale to the public and high standards of hygiene for the equipment and facilities used for these purposes.
The council's head of environmental health Nick Baker said: "This sends a firm message to food businesses that where unacceptable conditions are found we will take action to protect the public.
He added: "The key issues in this particular case was his disregard for the Regulations which led to poor conditions at the premises."
