BADMINTON: There have been no badminton blues for Wolverley teenager Cassandra Hawkes after her selection for the county U-15s team.
Holy Trinity School pupil Hawkes, 14, plays the sport every Sunday and twice a week with her parents.
And the up-and-coming Wolverley youngster admitted: "I have played badminton for as long as I can remember and to be picked for the county is a dream come true."
Hawkes is now preparing for the school county trials in Droitwich Spa on Saturday.
She said: "I look at badminton in a different way now as I don't think of it just as fun.
"It's something that can help me stay fit and help me in other sports such as javelin and discus at school."
Holy Trinity physical education teacher Jeanette Thomas said: "It's an excellent achievement. She will be a great role model for the other students."
