TEWKESBURY triathlete, John Mansfield, was victorious in the 12th annual Newent Triathlon.
Already this year, the Gloucestershire all-rounder had managed a fantastic second place in the Wychavon Triathlon and a more impressive runners-up spot at Newbury.
The latest outing was going to be just as tough with opposition in the shape of Great Britain international Tim Heaysman and top Tri-Team athlete Andy Merrick.
However, a confident Mansfield produced the fourth fastest swim, the quickest bike ride and the third fastest run to clock a time of 55 minutes and 12 seconds to finish 34 seconds in front of Heaysman with Merrick in fourth.
What made the success even sweeter for the Tewkesbury man was that both Heaysman and Merrick had got the better of him in this year's Tewkesbury Triathlon. Sweet revenge indeed!
