UNBEATEN Bewdley Town edged a 2-1 victory in their local derby at Wyre Forest Brintons in Division One South.
Forest Brintons, hoping for better fortune after losing their last two games, began well but without troubling keeper Ian Harvey.
And Bewdley took the lead against the run of play when Mark Meese handled in the area and John Maffei coolly scored from the spot.
Andy Oakes should have put the home side level but shot wide when well placed and few more chances were created before the break.
But there were plenty in the second half as Neil Cronin twice went close for Bewdley, while Tim Brown and Ervine McMahon could have scored for Forest Brintons.
The visitors increased their lead from a set-piece when Gary Middleton's corner allowed Chris Hough to head home from close in.
Forest Brintons gave themselves some hope when Meese was brought down in the box and Oakes scored from the spot.
They pressed for the equaliser and thought they had achieved it when a thunderous 25-yard shot was brilliantly saved by Harvey.
The derby was only marred by the sending off of Forest Brintons' Matthew Carter.
Harvey and Andrew Ford were the pick of the Bewdley players, while McMahon and Brown stood out in the home side.
Forest Brintons players are asked to meet at 12.45pm for Saturday's game, while Bewdley gather at 1pm.
