BROMSGROVE Rovers can speak to Reds midfielder Richard Softley from today after making a seven day approach.
Rovers manager Gary Hackett admitted he had been interested in the former Moor Green star in the close season before he decided on United.
"I know him from his Moor Green days and he has always had a reputation as a hard working player," said the Rovers joint manager.
"We have a number of players out at the moment and Richard would definitely improve the side."
Redditch visit a Swindon Supermarine side on Saturday boosted by the appointment of former Aberdeen and Swindon regular Tom Jones as manager.
In his second game in charge, the league basement club lost to the league leaders Rovers after an 87th minute James Dyson goal.
Jones has brought in former Wales international Paul Bodin as player-coach and the former Swindon favourite played last night.
