THE contract has now been signed for the erection of two new treble bells, to complete the octave, and Badsey will shortly be in possession of a full peal of eight. It may be remembered that the existing six bells were re-hung a few years ago, in a new iron frame with room provided for the two additional bells. The work, which is to be completed before Christmas, has been entrusted to Messrs. Mears and Stainbank. The bells will bear inscriptions in Latin and will be placed in the belfry as a memorial to Queen Victoria.

Later he saw the defendant and told him he would be reported. The chairman said it was a very narrow road and it would be difficult for another vehicle to pass. Defendant was fined 10s.

EXTENSIVE structural work being undertaken by Messrs H Burlingham and Co Ltd on their wharf at the Bridge, Evesham, has revealed traces of old stonework about eight foot below the surface. A wall composed of large blue-grey masonry has been disclosed in the course of excavations for new buildings by the contractors. For the time being, the demolition of a range of iron-roofed buildings has also provided a new view of the Bell Tower and the bridge from Castle Street.
