THE Longdon harvest supper will take place tomorrow (Saturday) at 7pm for 7.30pm in the Village Hall. Tickets are available from Roger Woodward, churchwarden, at £3 per adult and £1.50 per child. Soft drinks will be provided but parishioners are invited to bring their own alcoholic drinks and glasses. Offers to make apple pies welcome!
The Benefice Magazine will be printed and collated in Longdon Vicarage on Tuesday, October 29, 9am-4pm. At 7.30pm parishioners are invited to a Deanery International evening in Bushley Village Hall, an opportunity to enjoy a taste of international food and wine from Russia, France, Italy and some surprises! Tickets £3 on the door.
On Wednesday, October 30 Longdon Churchwomen's Fellowship meets in Longdon Village Hall at 7.30pm. Messrs Pearl and Bird will be giving an illustrated talk on Tewkesbury alleyways and the evening will include refreshments and a raffle. Visitors are welcome.
The successful book fair at Longdon St Mary's School ended last week, with sales totalling over £500. The staff and governors are grateful to those parents who helped to run it. As a result of the week it will be possible to supplement the school library and increase the variety of group reading books for children's use in literacy.
The Upton Deanery Appeal to support the Anajali School in Nairobi received a further boost on Tuesday, October 22 when over £100 was received at Longdon St Mary's School harvest service and bring and buy sale. Children at Anajali School have a great need of clothing and books. Longdon School would be pleased to receive any good quality clothing or books so that they can pass them on. All items should be brought to school during the first week after half term. The school will also be supporting Operation Christmas Child, as in previous years. Filled shoe boxes should be returned to school by Monday, November 3.
